Research

Residents are strongly encouraged to do research relevant to their career goals. Residents’ participation in scholarly activities is encouraged throughout the residency. Residents may participate in a wide range of ongoing research ranging from basic science through clinical trials and epidemiologic studies. The program has an active clinical pharmacology unit. This unit participates in phase one, two and three clinical trials. The Department of Dermatology and Skin Science has a number of research foci: skin cancer, hair disorders, photomedicine, genomics, cutaneous barrier function, immunodermatology, and clinical trials. Residents wishing to attend national and international conferences are expected to present their work in these forums.
